The governor of North Carolina's Roy Cooper signed the law on the legalization of betting on sports. This is reported by local media.
The new law allows players to bid on sports in two tribal casinos - Harrah’s Cherokee and Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River, located in the western part of the state. Thus, North Carolina became the seventeenth state of the United States, legitimized sports betting.
It is noteworthy that the new law does not contain any restrictions regarding the events on which you can place bets. For example, players are free to bet on the outcome of student sports, which is prohibited in many other states. However, mobile and online betting will still be banned. According to preliminary estimates, legal sports betting will bring about $ 1.5 million a year to the state budget.
Earlier, the New York Senator called on colleagues to legalize mobile betting. According to the politician, this will help avoid money leaks to the neighboring state.
