The Florida Legislative Assembly decided to postpone the legalization of sports betting for the next year. This is reported by local media.
The author of the bill on the legalization of sports betting, José Oliva, said that members of the Senate came to an understanding on most of the points, but they “did not have enough time” to approve the document. The members of the Legislative Assembly decided to postpone consideration of the bill to 2020.
The main proponent of the legalization of betting is considered the Seminole Indian tribe, who earn on tourism and gambling. Nevertheless, this initiative was seriously opposed by Governor Ron DeSantis. The head of state believes that the legalization of rates threatens the purity of sports and the “moral character of athletes”, and also increases the risk of gambling addiction among the population.
Earlier we talked about the legalization of sports betting in Montana. It’s up to $3.7 million dollars in tax revenues.
